It’s a natural process for ductwork to collect dust, dirt, and other debris. The return air vents draw in the pollutants inside your home into the heating and air conditioning system, and they will begin to build up inside the airtight ductwork. As more pollutants collect, it creates resistance that catches even more debris. It only takes a year for a thin layer of dust to develop, and two or three before this accumulation creates issues.
